| I've
been bad. I have not gone to weigh him yet. I promise, I'll do it soon.
My guess is about 26 or 27lbs.
We had a quiet Christmas here at home. My brother Chris came up from Stockton
for
a few days. We had a beautiful Christmas tree in our front window. Cole
had fun pulling
off the ornaments on the bottom and trying to put them back up.
Cole
has been teething a lot again. It has been waking him up and making him
a bit
cranky. We have had to give him motrin a few times. He got another tooth
on the bottom right,
but I think he may be getting his molars. He has been sticking his fingers
way back there in his
mouth. I know a few other babies his age who have been the same way. Of
course, this teething
makes sleeping regularly difficult. He had a few weeks where he was going
to bed after 9pm
every night. That had me up late too. Though, now he can understand when
I tell him it
is time for
bed. Sometimes after nursing he will lay next to me and coo and giggle
until he
finally falls asleep. It is such a beautiful moment.
For
Christmas, we got Cole a book "Twinkle twinkle little star"
with the kids doing american
sign language. Cole loves it. It did not take him long to start signing
along with the book.
His favorite page is "like a diamond in the sky". He points
to his finger for "diamond" and them
lifts his hand up over his head for "sky". Then claps like crazy.
He loves it. Some nights we have
to read it a dozen times.
He has been pulling up on everything now and walking around holding on
to things. He also pulls
up and then lets go of what he was holding and just stands there. It is
so cool to watch. It did not
take long to get to this stage. It seems he hardly crawls anymore except
to get to a spot in order to
pull himself up.
The picture window in our living room is the perfect height for Cole .
He can crawl over and pull himself
up and look outside. He loves to wave to Dad leaving for work or coming
home. He watches the
leaves blow
on the tree in the front yard. He watches the people and cars pass by.
He got
a wagon for Christmas from Uncle Chris. It is our new mode of transportation
for walks and for
going to the
park only two blocks away. The park is awesome. He likes going on the
swing, the
see saw and
loves when there are other kids there to watch. The play area is filled
with wood chips
which Cole can crawl around in except when he spends more time playing
with the wood chips and
putting them
in his mouth. He is still not over that phase of trying to eat everything.
He is good about it.
He puts it in his mouth, all the while looking at me, and then I shake
my head and say "No" and he
spits it out.
It is a fun game.
We are coming up on the one year mark. It is hard to comprehend this place
I am in. It was not
a dream of mine to be married or have a baby. How surprising life can
be. My life just gets better
everyday with Cole. I know I could not feel this happiness without John.
I remember a year ago
being so ready to have this baby. I remember my Mom always telling me
I would make a great
Mom and that when it is your child it is different. I did not really believe
her. I know I am doing
the best I can and I know her confidence in me has helped me every minute
of Cole's life.

December 28, 2005 Cole at the park. He is almost over putting
the wood chips in his mouth, almost.

January 12, 2006 Is is just Cole or do all babies like to help clean
up?

January 12, 2006 check out his bottom teeth! He has four teeth on the
top too.

January 12, 2006 Thought I would sneak this one in of John
on his birthday (33, if you are wondering)

January 15, 2006
A little sneak preview of his birthday photos. This is John's Mom getting
Cole dressed in his birthday suit.

This is part of the traditional Korean first birthday. John's Mom is on
the left.
Cole is loving (admiring) his new gold ring he has on this finger!
