| The
past month was all about talking. He spent a long time just making all
kinds of sounds.
Then he moved on to words and now he is starting to repeat words we say!
He has a long
list of words some of which only a mom could figure out, but it is coming
along. He has
already put two or three words together. I can't believe the progress
in such a short time.
Cole's
new words-
one, two, three; bounce, egg, dan, mel, ice, pool, bus, tree, cow, moo,
neigh
meow, cat, quack, duck, hoe, rake, mirror, bed, garbage truck, map
I'm sure there are more
Cole is so tall. I am amazed as I watch him stretch across
our bed. He has
recently started rolling around and sometimes ends up sideways in the
bed.
One night we all slept sideways on the bed. Luckily we have a california
king bed and it does not make a difference which way we sleep. When he
gets down off the bed in the mornings, I keep thinking he is going to
keep sliding
down, but he stops and the bed is at his waist. when did this happen?
He is
starting to reach places he couldn't before. I think we need to do another
layer
of baby proofing.
A new thing I've notice is Cole watching himself in the
mirror. We have closet
mirrors in the spare room, a mirror in the bathroom at his height and
a mirror
in the car that he can see himself. He started watching himself speak
and make
sounds and facial expressions. Lately he watches himself cry. Sometimes
it is
really all about watching himself cry rather than really crying. I've
started to
ask him if he would like to go to the mirror when he is crying.
We went on our first camping trip of the summer in June
to South Lake Tahoe.
It was very last minute. We saw the weather in Sacramento was going to
be
100 all weekend and got reservations on thursday for Friday and Sat night.
We had a great time relaxing. We were a short one minute walk from the
shore
of the lake. Cole loves playing in the sand and water, no matter how cold.
It
really wasn't too bad. Not numbing like it can be. He also loved climbing
up on
the rocks around the campsite. Climbing is new. He really hasn't done
much of it,
but I've been noticing more of it, even around the house.
Cole and I have been having lots of fun in the sand at home
and the park. He
really doesn't spend anytime on the structures anymore. We have also been
going to the wading pool or another park that has a water feature. We
play,
splash and swim in the water, eat a snack, and head home for a nap. We
sometimes throw and kick the ball around. Always he wants to play with
the
older boys or girls. Usually they are good and let him tag along. He loves
watching
kids or adults play soccer, basketball or baseball. He is interested in
what is going on.
Mostly I think he just wants to play ball too. Some days we are home just
hanging
around the house. reading books, playing with trucks, dancing, playing
peek-a boo,
being silly and laughing and tickling. The days when I am feeling worn
out, he
sneaks up on me and walks under my legs as I'm trying to make lunch, kisses
my leg and smiles up at me. aaaaahhhh.
Cole moments...
I was doing some work around the house. Cole got ahold of a flattened
cardboard box. He pushed it all around the house for thirty minutes pretending
it was a bulldozer truck. He was making all kind of noises for the truck,
signed
"truck" and "work".
When we were at the park recently, Cole was running around
with Emma Gene.
He came to me and signed "shoes" and then "hot". I
was so surprised. I had
signed shoes to him a million times, but he had never before signed it
to me. Cole
loves to be barefoot, so I am always telling him he needs to wear shoes
if there is
pavement because it is too hot to walk on without shoes. This is the first
time
he asked for his shoes. I signed "surprised" back to him and
told him he
surprised me by signing shoes! He amazes me every day.

he has just started finding spots all over the house that are his height
to sit down.
He can finally sit on the couch we bought him in January with his feet
touching the floor.
He is really tall.
