| Cole is big! He is truly a big
kid now. Cole is 38" tall and weighs 30lbs.
He eats well and likes so many different foods. We are so
lucky, he even likes the spicey stuff. He pretty much
eats what we eat and is starting to like a variety of vegetables and not
just brocoli. His appetite is much more too and
nurses only in the morning at wakeup, maybe in the afternoon, but not
always and then again at bedtime. And he is
no longer taking naps, so he is exhausted at the end of the day. He falls
asleep in ten minutes or less and wakes up
maybe once for nursing, but mostly sleeps all night.
I got my first I love you mom, about a month ago. We were
in bed sleeping when he woke up to nurse.
When he was done I cuddled with him and told him, I love you Cole. He
looked at me and said I love you Momma.
Of course, I started to cry. It was my third best moment yet, next to
his birth and the moment he first looked at me with
those big brown eyes, the day he was born. He is such a kind, and sensitive
kid. He has been showing much more
affection to John and I. he has started saying I love you to us, all on
his own. He gives kisses and hugs to us when
we are sad or hurt.
We have had a busy summer so far. We spent 11 days in Maui, HI which was
amazing. Cole really loved the beach.
He loves the water and swimming, but also just playing in the sand. His
most favorite thing was definitely the
Old Lahaina Luau. He was entranced by the dancing. When we got back from
our trip, Cole (all on his own)
donned a headress that he had made at a kids festival, seven bracelets
up his arm, five necklaces around his neck
and bracelets on his ankles and he danced! and danced and danced! I will
put a video of this up on the
website for you to see.
In June we went camping at Lake Tahoe, Nevada Beach Campground. It was
cooler than we would have liked,
so no swimming, but a day relaxing on the beach playing in the sand. Cole
also toasted his first marshmellow.
He liked the roasting and not the eating part. Cole also slept very well
in the tent. The first night he slept through
the whole night with only one “Mama” screamed out and then
back to sleep.
July was spent with friends at the park and swimming at the pool. We went
to the 4th of July fireworks and watched them
from a good distance away so that they were not too loud, but still a
great show. We spent a few days in Oakland enjoying
our old stomping ground. Cole picked up baseball and is now a fanatic.
He wakes every morning wanting to go out in the
backyard and play baseball. He wears a baseball shirt and baseball pants
and baseball shoes. He had one red shirt with a
baseball on it which was worn day after day after day. it was hard to
get it washed. After a 4 day stint of no washing,
we finally went out to get him another baseball shirt. But he still wants
to wear a specific one each day. so i have to try
to get them washed when I can. Luckily he found some of his own pants
with he calls baseball pants and we have
a few pairs of these. We bought him some bats, soft balls and a glove.
The T ball set we bought gets no use. Cole prefers
that we through the ball to him to hit. he is getting very good at hitting,
better at catching and really great at running.
He likes to play the pitcher, the catcher and the umpire and the batter.
He loves to throw his bat down and run....
home team he yells out, meaning home run. He yells out strike one! We
found a really great book to read about
baseball where this family goes to a game and they talk about what is
happening and who everyone is. he loves it.
See you at the ballgame! Lisa
