| Everyday
Cole is saying a new word, actually many new words. They just pop
right out. He talks a lot in his sleep and as soon as he wakes up. I am
amazed
at how much he understands, which is everything and how much he communicates.
I can talk to him about what is going on, what we need to do or ask him
questions to find out what he needs or wants. He is very verbal and
communicates very well at 19 months.
Cole's
new words-
turtle, moon, open, close, dirty, buzz, bee, hole, on, off, help, money,
buy, book,
pool, boom, pop, bubble, tower, all done, eat, brocoli, beet, (and so
much more)
Cole is learning his opposites. He has been saying and signing
little and big for
a while now and I know for certain he understands what these mean. He
knows on and off, open and closed, in and out, up and down.
Everything is "that" to Cole. He points and says"that"
and you name all these
things and he is getting upset because you are not addressing what it
is he wants.
I am talking to him about signing or saying what it is. Lately, he points
at the
window in the car and says "that" and I go through all these
things outside and in
the end he wants to have his window down. It is fustrating for both of
us.
Now that is has happened three times, I might get it quicker, but we have
been
working on the sign for window or ask him to say down. so I will get it.
Cole has been such a homebody lately. He does not want to
go out anywhere.
Some morning when we have errands, Cole is so upset he has to leave. He
is
not interested in going to the park either. What does he do all day? The
day
goes by so fast. We read books together or he looks at books by himself.
He plays with the rabbits out on the patio, chasing them around. He builds
towers with his blocks. He plays the drums or flute. He drives his cars
around
and makes noises. He tries to juggle with some balls or throws the balls
around.
He jumps and hops. We play chase. We eat. We nurse. We hopefully sleep
for
two hours, on a good day. We wash up and brush teeth. He plays with his
puppets.
He plays with his animals. He makes animals with his wikisticks. He cuts
up wooden
fruit. He jumps on the bed. He sweeps up the floor. We play peek-a-boo.
He helps
me do the laundry or clean up the kitchen. We dance and giggle and play
games and
the day passes by and John comes home.
Cole is very interested in mamas and babies. He calls men
and women he sees
either a mama or a papa. He distinguishes animals as mama, dada or a baby.
I think this has to do with seeing the animals at the fair.We saw baby
cow,
goats and pigs and saw the animals nursing with mama. He would point them
out
and call them the baby or the mama or the dada. We bought him some animal
figures and some a babies and some are adults and he labels these as well
as
the animals he sees in the books.
I love it when Cole jokes with me. A lot of time it is a
joke that something which
is really small, he tells me "big" and gives me a big smile.
or vice versa. It is so cute.
When I need him to do something he says "no" with a big grin
and wants me to
chase him and when he is caught he will do it. We have lots of fun together.
I am loving this time of his life.
