COLE HAM
May 8, 2007 -- 28 months old

Cole is 37 1/2" tall and weighs 30lbs.

Cole grew 2 inches in 2 months! Unbelievable. I kept looking at him and saying
"you look like your grew more." and he did! That might explain all the nursing,
every hour or two, all day, all night. Glad this is over with. He is now sleeping
better than he has ever slept. Usually 5-6 hours in a row and wakes up once
per night to nurse. He is still in our king bed with us, though it is getting crowded
in there. We still love it. He even started going to sleep on his own. He nurses
and then I tell him I will lay with him for a minute or five minutes and then
I will go into the office and work and he goes to sleep! There are so many
nights when he has so much to say. He will talk for an hour. It is so nice to
hear, but also fustrating since I'm tired and want him to sleep. But this is
when you hear the funny stuff he can come up with.

I have not been writing in my journal much at all. There seems to be no time.
Cole and I are busy. I try to get to the park in the morning or get errands
done in the morning. Then we can have an afternoon nap, and stay home
afterwards, playing around the house and making dinner. We meet friends
every Tuesday at a nearby park. And I try to go running a few mornings
a week too. We are going to Maui in three weeks! It is all I think about.

Cole is counting to ten and beyond and can count objects too. He also knows
his ABC's and is learning what each letter looks like. Cole speaks in sentences,
complete sentences, using the ifs, ands, the's and everything. And he can
understand it all now too. Cole and his friend Cooper were singing the
ABC song over and over while swinging on the swings this morning.

Cole woke up one morning and said to me, "when I am a big kid, I will have
beer". He sees John and I drink beer with dinner sometimes. He is really
fascinated with the things he will be doing as he gets older.

When we were leaving the post office, the postal worker told us to have a nice
day. I said, "thanks, you too" and cole said, "see you later". the worker was
surprised and smiled and laughed. cole turns to me and said, "Mom, I said
see you later to the guy". I said, yes, and you made him smile. He liked it.

We dug out a section of the yard for a small garden. Cole loves digging and enjoyed
all the worms we found. He would get right in there in sit in the dirt digging.
He always had to have a big shovel like I was using or a big rake. and
always had to dig right exactly where I was digging. In fact, it was best if
he sat right in the hole I was digging.

enjoy, Lisa
