Cole was 19 weeks on May 29th (4.5 months old)
Our little guy is getting BIG! He is 18lbs and 28" long as of June 6th.
I know he went through a growth spurt two weeks ago because he was eating every half hour/hour...
even during the night. Needless to say, I was exhausted and tired that week, along with Cole.
He seems to be gaining a pound and an inch every month at a steady rate.

Teething took a breather for a few weeks, but came back strong two weeks ago. He has had many
bad days and moments which break my heart. He is still very clingy, but is slowly letting go and
spending more time on the floor on his own. His new thing is wiggling around when I change his diaper.
He's been rolling over and almost got up on his knees. I was in awe as I watched and thought it won't be
long now until he really starts moving.
Cole took his first camping trip over Memorial Day weekend to Manresa, just south of Santa Cruz.
We camped right above the ocean. He did OK. but he started teething and it did not let up all weekend.
We went home one night early, so he spent two nights in the tent and did well. I hope the next time
will be better.
We've been trying to take walks in the mornings now. Cole is waking up at 8am instead of 9am most days
and the weather is cool enough at that time to get in a walk at the park. Cole loves it. We have a stroller that fully reclines and lies flat. The handle is reversible so I can see him or face him out. He loves it and I love watching him. He watches the trees go by overhead and smiles at me. He especially loves it when it is windy and all the leaves are moving around and catching the sunlight. very cool stuff.

Cole is giggling and laughing now. It is, of course, the cutest thing. I will try to get a little video of it online. He loves standing on my lap.He always has a great big smile when I do this with him. He has great neck and head control now. When on his back he is constantly trying to lift up his head as if to get up. I keep telling him he's got to roll over and crawl first, but he thinks I'm silly.

Cole's sleeping schedule changed when he started teething. He was waking every half hour to every hour to nurse and because he was in pain. He started scratching at his ears (sometimes drawing blood) and shaking his head; very restless sleep. He sleeps better when I'm in bed with him and when he is in bed with us and not in his cosleeper. So he has been sleeping in our bed almost exclusively since he started teething. At first I had a hard time sleeping with him tossing and turning and not having any room being squished in the middle. Now I am use to it and sleeping better and Cole has started sleeping a bit better also. He may wake up every hour or so when I first put him to bed, but once I go to bed he usually sleeps 2 to 3 hours in a row. I really enjoy being close to him in bed and snuggling.

Cole is showing signs that he wants to eat solid food. When we eat he has gradually started to watch us intently and now reaches out at our plates and food. The other day he pretended to reach at the table and put something in his mouth and moved his mouth. I had thought he would not be ready for solid food until at least 6 months, but I think we will try rice cereal at 5 months. Fun stuff for the next set of photos!
I almost forgot to mention Cole's love of reading! As you will see in the photos below, Cole loves Dr. Seuss's
Mr Brown can Moo can you? this is his favorite book. We can read it to him 3 times in a row and he still wants more. he grabs the book and won't let you put it down. When he sees the book on the shelf he startes smiling. He talks along when we read it! it's great. I bought a bunch of other books for him, but Mr. Brown is definitely his favorite.

I am added a new section to this website - Information- where I will share some parenting articles, advice and useful tips, etc that I have learned along the way. I hope to get this up and running in the next week.

The Mother Support Network that I belong to in Sacramento is holding a Summer Picnic and fundraiser
on June 25th (10am - 2:30pm) at Mission Oaks Park. Please let me know if you want more information or
if you have something you could donate for the silent auction. We hope you can join us!
