COLE HAM
8 months old (34 weeks) on September 16, 2005

Our little guy is getting BIG! I think I can leave this statement here for each entry.
As of October 3, 2005 Cole was 23lbs 3oz .We still need to measure him. I'm sure
he has added an inch or two to his height. He's huge. I always look at him while
he sleeps and can't believe that he is my baby. He does not look like a baby anymore.

We have spent most of his 8th month house hunting. What an ordeal and a stress.
I'm sure it is having an impact on Cole as well. Hopefully we will be moving into
our own home by December 1st. We have bids out on 3 homes right now and
one has been accepted. We have been looking in the South Sacramento area, close
to a park and in a quiet family oriented neighborhood. Our chances look good.

Cole's two bottom teeth are out and very noticeable now. He has started teething
again with the two top ones making their way down. They are just about ready to
cut through. This has had an impact on his disposition and his sleep. He has had some
rough days and nights. Luckily it is not as bad as the first two and he has some good
days, nights and moments mixed in.

Cole has not been eating regularly lately either. Most likely due to his teeth.
He still wants nothing to do with a spoon and wants to pick up his own food.
We have experimented with new foods too - avocado, brocoli, sweet potato,
rice, tofu.... he seems to like it all. His staple food is rice puff cereal which he
eats at every meal and we throw in some vegetable. I also gave him some
applesauce this week which he loved.

Cole is sitting up on his own. He has been moving a lot more on the floor, but
still gets very fustrated that he can not get to things out of his reach. It is hard for

me to watch him struggle. I am lucky at this point that he is not more mobile than
he is. I have not had to change our sleeping arrangements. he still sleeps in bed with
us. he does not roll off. I have not had to baby proof the house yet. I'm hoping he
will hold off just a little while longer, so I won't have to worry about it till we move.
Our house is full of boxes right now in anticipation of our moving.

Cole is very curious. He is pointing at everything. His new sign this month is "light"
which is open and closing of your fist while reaching up toward the "light". He
does it alot. We were in the supermarket and he looks up at the ceiling and started
signing light. You know he knows what it is. He has been communicating with his
pointing finger and body language. He is amazing how much he can tell you.
He has also discovered the light switches and door knobs. Every time we pass by
one, he wants to stop and check it out and try to work it. He signs light. My arms
are feeling it. he's a heavy boy now. Because of this, we have upgraded our baby sling
to a mei tei. which is a chinese sling that goes over both shoulders and is much more
comfortable for a heavy baby.(I'm using one in one of the photos on the 5 months page).
We made the carrier ourself. Cole has also been riding in the shopping cart at the
supermarket. He loves being up that high and being able to reach for things. I usually
give him a banana to bite on as I shop. He also goes on walks in the stroller a lot.
We take him to the park to see the ducks and feed them and sometimes go on the swing.
It is so cool to see him sitting up in the stroller, dangling his feet and pointing at everything.

Thanks for checking in. We'll see you soon.
